Scholarship Application

To meet my career objective, I would like to obtain a Masters in Finance. My goal is to become an IT industry analyst at a financial, private equity, or investment banking firm. I am seeking to supplement my already deep understanding of technologies and market research with strong analytical, accounting and financial analysis skills. I believe that this solid combination of technology, research and financial knowledge will provide the necessary background I need to become successful at generating high-quality investment advice and will lead me to become a top performing industry analyst.

A majored in psychology in college and currently work in marketing research at a company specializing in xxxx. Although my planned switch to finance may sound like a dramatic change, I actually view it as a natural progression of my existing work where I analyze and track marketing and industry trends. I have found exploring the competitive dynamics of innovation in technology segments to be both challenging and rewarding. However, I have also discovered that my technology-focused research alone is inadequate in our increasingly complex and dynamic world and am seeking a Masters in Finance to resolve this gap.

Great technology and market opportunity are only a few of the factors that determine success. The company must still execute effectively to exploit the opportunity before the competition does or before market dynamics that presented the opportunity change. This is why I believe a great analyst also needs the ability analyze the financial health of a company and the industry it participates in as well as the skills to understand and predict the equities fluctuations in the market.

I've given a great deal of thought not only about what I'd like to do, but also what I need to do to be really good at it. I realize that I need additional financial skills to be an effective IT industry analyst.
